Point Awards

Points are tabulated from the method below:

  1. Points will be awarded based on finishing positions of all SMART entrants running Toyo tires.
  2. Drivers receive 1 point for starting. Example: DNF = 1 point, DFL = 1 point, DNS = 0 points.
  3. Drivers receive points based on the finishing position as listed below:

  4. Drivers receive 1 point for every 2 SMART entrants they beat, up to a maximum 14 bonus points. Example: If there are 5 drivers, they receive the following ADDITIONAL points (added to finishing position points shown below): 1st = +2, 2nd = +1, 3rd = +1, 4th = 0, 5th = 0.
  5. Year-end Championship points will be calculated from the racer's 12 best race event points. However, only 6 races from any one track may be counted.
  6. Year-end Championship points ties will be broken by counting the racers' best 11 events, then the best 10 events, etc., until the tie is broken. If a tie still remains, it will be decided by the best tow time between Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Nelson Ledges.

Examples:
Finish 3 of 7: Starting Race = 1 point, Finish position = 9 points, Beat 4 cars = 2 points Total = 1+9+2 = 12 points.
